The Newport Pagnell mum has realised a dream by having a book of Bengali proverbs published.
The book features famous proverbs from its culture such as ‘an out-of season pumpkin’, meaning someone who is good for nothing. Mrs Sinha-Ray said her
inspiration was to explain to others the richness of Bengali language. “It is not essential to know the Bengali language to enjoy this book as only the proverb is in Bengali,” explained Mondira. “The remaining text is all in English so it is suitable for a very general readership.
“The book will be a good read for people who love language and read for fun or for people who are delving into the language at a higher level.”
The book is available at Waterstones in Milton Keynes and will be available through the online shop of The MK Mix. Mondira said she enjoyed the process of researching and writing the book, as much as she enjoyed seeing it for sale in a major book store. She worked on the book for three years and enjoyed every moment and hopes that those who read it will derive just as much pleasure as she had in writing it.
